SLK/R170: 98" Slk 230 Engine Problem

98" Slk 230 Engine Problem
Well, like 3 times in about 4 months the car will start to shake violently. All times it's at a stop light and turning the car off then back on fixes it. Recently it did it and will not go back to normal. The car spudders along alot of power loss on take off. Any advice anyone?

Hi. I'm new here but also have a 98' slk230 and had the same problem,only mine also included the "check engine" light to come on. A friend of mine is a mechanic and put his computer on it and got 5 differant error messages. He said it was impossible for the car to run with those errors and said they had to be false. Especially since they seemed to clear thereselves after time. Anyway, the problem was solved simply by changeing the brand of gas I used. I now use the 94 octane shell gas and have not had that problem since. Good luck to you and I hope that helps.
