Help! Crankshaft Position Sensor Question

Hello all...
I would really appreciate your help.

I've got a 2001 SLK320 and I need to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor (MB Part #0031532728). My question is:

1. After I install the new sensor, is it required to re-initialize, re-index, or reset it somehow? If so, how does one do that?

Thanks for your help in advance...

Sak...

I had the same question and my buddy in germany checked with his dealer, they said it's not really required but you should have it checked at a service center, if/when you get a chance. I bought one for a little over $50 at IMPORTEC, Dallas TX., haven't installed it yet. My SLK320 will not crank at times, let it sit a few hours or overnight and it will usually correct itself. My local dealer has replaced close to $4000.00 in parts (sure glad I bought an extended warrenty) and still hasn't fixed it. I have had it towed in and the darn thing starts right up for them, so they can't duplicate the problem to trouble shoot and no OBDII codes are stored. I'm ready to give up on this animal.

2001 SLK 320 Auto
Hello, i have a 2001 SLK320, and have recently had 2 issues which were -
1. Cranks but does not start. 2. Driving along and the car just cuts out and dies.

I have just had the car recovered, fault code was P0335, Crankshaft Position Sensor. I fitted a new sensor on Saturday, so far so good, hope this is of help to someone, regards Damian.

In adddition to the sensor did you have to have buy a code reader or something to reset the car? My check engine light won't stay on long enough to get it read by my day off. if I replace the sensor no electronic work needs to be done additionally correct?
