Price I should pay for an '01 SLK???
So, I'm seriously getting into the idea of purchasing an SLK 230 as my primary car, and have my C 32 as the secondary as to keep the miles low on it.
I found this vehicle here:
2001 SLK 230 for sale
I've seen this car up on Autotrader for 4 months now. About a month ago it was dropped from 18.9K to 17. I still think it's too high based on blue book retail. I personally offered 15, but then this guy insults me and say that 'I don't realize how rare a manual transmission is for this car.'
I know the rarity, but there's no premium that I'm aware of or am willing to pay. What does the board think?

You might want to say to the seller that manual transmissions are rare but they are also worth less than the automatics.
The car is overpriced. He is above the higher end of the retail price in his listing.

I figured as much. Thanks for the info. He tried to use the NADA pricing argument, but I countered back with the brute fact that NO ONE will pay NADA pricing on any car especially right now. Anyways, we'll see what happens. Thanks.

I've put 15K on it in 9 months...
That's a lot of miles. :/ Problem with California is you can stack miles REAL quick.

actuallyb the manual on a slk230 is fairly common. if it were me and i know because i did it, look for a slk32. the prices are very good and it s not uncommon to find them for under 18k. mine had 36,000 miles and i gave 16,750 for mine an 02 slk32. if you think your c32 is fast try this monster!!!!

Oh, I know what an SLK 32 can do. I'm getting the 230 primarily for fuel efficiency, and because I don't want my 32 taking the brunt of all the miles.
