Question Command system installation

Has anyone installed a command system on an SLK in place of the stock controls? There have been a few commmand systems on ebay that I would love to put into my slk, but I want to make sure they will work before I make the investment in time and money.

If it's possible, what model command systems work with the SLK stock system? Also if anyone has instructions please let me know. Thanks everybody.

I dont think the command system will work with the SLK. From what I understand you have to go with aftermarket systems.

As far as functionality, I think it should work... but physically, it would require hacking up the center console

Hacking the console

I don't mind hacking the console much, as long as the command system will work.

What aftermarket systems have you guys used? How easy were they to install? How much did they cost?

SLK do not have Auto Climate Control so that functon won't work.

Thanks

Thanks everybody for your quick responses. I'm going to look into other alternatives for the navigation system. Thanks again.

Do a search in the archives. This topic came up a few times. The aftermarket system will be quite costly but here is a link.

Another option is to use the handheld garmin navigation systems whcih you can use in your car.

Wink

It could be done at the AMG-Manufaktur in Germany but they would charge about 6-7k€ for that. Does not make a lot of sense in my opinion

Alternatively I would use one of the DVD-Systems from Alpine. There are some guys implementing those systems into SLKs. Looks pretty good
