High-Pitched squeel in cabin
98 slk230 has a random high pitched-squeel inside the cabin. It is behind/inside the dash while the car is running but makes no difference in rpm or what is off or on inside the car.
It almost sounds electrical.
I played around with it in the driveway last night and could get it to go away turning the fan control off....but my gf says when she drove it home that made no difference.
That makes me think it is developing a vacuum leak in the dash. The AC works great and always has.
The car 100% stock.
The noise is in the dash and seems to be more prevalent if I open the glove box.
It is not a belt in the engine compartment

Well it seems the recirc door was the culprit.I pushed the door open.It took off and opened all the way.I cycled the knob off and on and the recirc light finally came on...ha.
No more squeal and the recirc works...never really noticed it before.
