SLK/R170: T68i Phone Integration
Thanks!!
They also sell the Sony/Ericsson kit here but I've no experience of it.
Fitting it was easy - I purchased the separate speaker to go with the car kit (you can use the exisiting hi-fi speakers, but I didn't want to), so the only connections were power (which I took from the power to the head unit), and the mute wire that taps directly into the mute wire going into the back of the head unit.
Obviously, being Bluetooth there's no cradle required for the phone, and the 6210 just sits comfortably in the storage slot behind the hand brake.
Unfortunately, for US-spec SLKs, it's not possible with any phone except the MB/Motorola phones which have special software in them to communicate with the M-B audio system.
Some other options you have are:
1. Some people have been able to use aftermarket components and some wire splicing to allow using the microphone and the audio system speakers, and to mute the radio/CD when the phone is in use, but that's it.
2. It's been said that you can use a GSM (i.e. T-mobile/Voicestream) phone and retrofit the European integration components.
I don't know specifics about either option, but you should be able to find more info in the MBWorld Audio & Electronics forum.
Any suggestions?
