SLK/R170: Anyone want to sell their 2001 SLK320 Owner's Manual?
I bought my Benz from a dealership that sells a little bit of everything, and was only able to come up with a manual for a '99 Kompressor just to provide me with BASIC literature.
There are some things specific to the V-6 model (dual air filters for example) that cannot be found in the older manuals prior to 2001.
Thanks!
So, with that said, I have a question for U that is off the topic of this particular forum. I have the 2001 SLK320 Sport and HATE the silver lower grill inserts. I have repainted the outer 2 (the fog light ones), and still have the big one in the middle that's in the area of the license plate bracket. I see (on mine at least) that the grill is screwed into the bumper in two places from behind.... what is the easiest way to at least tilt the front bumper forward enough so I can get my hand in there and a small phillips screw driver to remove those screws? I took off the radiator grill and looked behind with a flash light, and there's not much room to work with down there with the bumper installed.
I know there are two bolts (on the left and right) close to the inner side of the headlight assemblies, but that's the only ones I can see.
Any suggestions?
Any help is highly appreciated!!! (I have my 2 outer grill inserts black, and the middle one silver if you can imagine how that looks)
I forgot to mention, sometimes M-B dealers have owner's manuals in stock and you might be able to buy from your local dealer for the same price. Also, the nice case that the manual comes in costs extra.
I called the MB dealership the other day and got a quote on the 2k2-2k3 style bumper and rear apron.... can you say STICKER SHOCK? $1700 for the front and $1600 for the rear, and that does not include painting, foglights, or anything else.
So much for that idea. I could probably do it anyway if we didn't have this dog-gone Car Tax here in the Commonwealth of VA.
Guess I'll roll around with my black and silver grills 'til I figure it out.
Thanks for the advice on the manual though. The dealership I bought the car from gave me the wrong manual, but did hook me up with the fancy MB leather case with the business card holders that you were talking about.
