SLK 200
SLK Spring Rods

Hi all, i have just become the proud owner of my first SLK albeit 1997 model, the problem i have got is that the " wings " on the rear shelf don`t open properly to bring the shelf far enough for the roof to clear, i found out that the rod springs had snapped on both sides, i was wondering if anyone had a diagram to help me fit the new rods as i think they are fed through a couple of pulleys, would really appreciate any help regards Steve ,

Put the arms of the top at a 90 degree position... Almost half way... While the roof is on that position you have to take out the three screws which are on the back side of the flaps/wings... Becareful..! The top might go down in +/- 7 minutes...If you are short of time just open and close the top... No need to open or close fully... Just move back and forth a little... Dont put hands or fingers in or under the mechanism/arms... You find than one of the fixing points...
