Question in regards to Kleemann boost pulley

So as stated before, I've got a Kleemann crank pulley that I used on my old '02 C230 sportcoupe. It's in excellent condition.

My question is: Will this pulley also work on a '99 SLK 230? Based on what I'm seeing, the engine numbers match up...so it should work, right?

Come on, now. Someone's got to have an opinion on this? I'd just rather not spend some obscene amount on a pulley kit. ASP's kit goes for $1200. That's ridiculous...at least in my opinion. Anyone?

if its for the M111.973 engine its fine
but if its for the M111.983 engine it will not work.
the difference in pulleys is because of a different clutch on the superchargers.
you may want to check with Kleemann to be sure.
the high price for the ASP pulley is there are other items with the pulley,
colder plugs & maf relocation parts.

Could I buy the plugs elsewhere as well as the MAF relocation parts, etc? Almost seems that modding my 32 costs less than a base M111. :p My '02 C230 was pretty cost effective to mod, though.

You can go to www.autohausaz.com, MercedesPartsCenter.com, or some other website and look up the part #s for these two cars. If the parts matched for both cars, then you know you can swap the parts.

Any idea on how to identify which engine code it is?

Is the engine code written on a sticker under the hood? If you still can't find it, call your local MB dealer part's dept, provide them the VIN # and ask them to look up the engine for you.

Thanks. I looked into it. Figures it's the PITA engine.

Honestly it will work for the older one too, the key position just needs about 4-6mm machined off is all.

I had it done on a pulley myself (the machine part)

Would you mind explaining that a bit more in detail? Do I machine the key in deeper or something? I thought the pullies for the engines were different in diameter altogether.
