Is this worth it?
Hi all Im new Im thinking about getting a used slk 230 but I just wanted to know if u guy think this sounds good I think it does but i want u the owners opinon I found a black on black 1998 slk230 in mint and when i say mint i mean mint it only has 11,900 miles on it and has a clean title it has been sitting in a garage for the past couple years 1 owner non smoking for $22,000.00 what do yall think? worthy or worthless.

That sounds like a bargain deal...actually, it depends where you are at...here in SF bay area, you will never find a deal like that..so is it fully loaded?
Anyhow, I think it is a damn good deal....so just double check and make sure it is accident free and has a clean title..good luck

oh ... the R171 is coming out in this Sept. !?
i asked the dealer in canada 2 months ago , and they said the R171 is not available in this yr anyway ..... um.... i think they probably duno about it

I talked to the dealer about the next generation SLK just about two months ago, and they said they knew nothing about it too. But I was in the process of negociating an SLK purchase, I didn't think they'd tell the truth =) Autoweek (a reliable source??) stated that the R171 is set to debut for 2004, I suppose 2004 models usually get shipped around September of 2003 (in the U.S.), perhaps a high mark-up to go with it too. Anyhow, the new generation is around the corner!

From what I heard from a buddy that works for mb corporate, the R171 won't be here until next yr. It will be released in germany late this yr.

The market is really soft for SLK's.
Www.carsdirect.com was selling them for 2K below invoice in April and for May it's 1K under invoice. I bet June is more witht he new model year around the corner. Cars direct is the most you should pay for a car, I paid a grand under the cars direct price for my c-class.

I agree with Beth. Use carsdirect pricing as a guideline and lowball the dealers.
As far as the mkt goes, the entire auto sector is soft, not just the slk. As for mb, they are hit pretty hard and pretty much the whole lineup selling below invoice except for the amgs, and of course, the badazz SL.
A friend of mine just bought a s430 fully loaded, with a msrp of approximately, $93,000. It came out to me $80,000 Out of door...talking about a cut throat deal here...
