Top issues (Leak and stops in mid operation)
Have a 99 SLK. 2 issues.
First is there a hydraulic leak coming from the piston that controls the latch levers in the roof. do the lines come out of the unit or does a whole unit have to ordered ? (did not see any line connector/nuts to tighten up)
Second issue is when I go to lower the top...top unlocks, trunk opens fine: it is at step three: When the top starts to retract it stops halfway through the cycle and just hangs. What switch controls this step ?
Thanks,
Rick

The lines are part of the unit.
The hat shelf should raise up, so the roof does not damage it
The Top Operating sequence is as follows:
All the side windows are lowered
The trunklid is unlocked and opened
The top is unlocked and retracted
The 2-piece hat shelf is raised, and
the cover sections at the sides are closed
The top is lowered into the trunk and
locked in place. The hat shelf returns
to its locked position.
The trunklid is closed and locked
The front side windows are raised
The rear side winows remain in their
recesses to eliminate the potential of
injury from exposed corners

Found issue with intermittent top....two wires along the roof fold were broke off inside the insulation......too many times open and close......top works fine now...
