PLEASE HELP!! 1998 Mercedes SLK 230
Hi all,
Any advice, opinions greatly appreciated.
I have had a 1998 SLK 230 now for about a month. It is in excellent condition, only done 65,000 miles and has a Full Service History. Before buying it, I paid £280 for an AA Inspection. The report was absolutely fine apart from the comment ''lacking power''. The AA Engineer put that down to the fact that the car hadnt been driven for a while.
Although sluggish, i got by fine for a few weeks until the last few days it has becoming increasingly worse and very dangerous. Basically, from starting out cold or anytime I stop, when trying to move off again is a nightmare, barely moving at 5mph for a few seconds before spluttering into life again and moving away. This is a nightmare at busy junctions.
When moving and having got past the horrible zero acceleration / lack of power scenario the car has been fine, although there have been a couple of moments on the motorway where for a ''split second'' the car sort of juddered which was quite hairy! No warning lights etc, everything seems normal inside.
This all said, i am trying to book into a local Mercedes Specialist this week (T W Neale, Wolverhampton) so hopefully will get sorted but any thoughts would be welcome. I hust hope it isnt too expensive! Thanks all.
