1999 SLK 230
Question Phone Bracket Removal

I have a 99 SLK 230, do not have phone nor do I have plan to ever get one.

I would like to remove phone bracket and cable from the center console, to make the space more usable.

Anyone have a how to?

I had a '99 that was delivered with the phone in it, but since I didn't want it (nor did I want to pay for it), the dealer took it out about a month later. What was left was about a two-inch square hole in the lower front of the inside of the console compartment. I had to put a piece of tape over the hole to keep from losing stuff in the hole.

I never looked that close, but I think it just snapped into the hole and had one or two screws in the bottom.

Good idea to recover the space. The phones in '99 models were analog Startacs that were obsolete when they were new, now they're just paperweights.

I bought a 98 SLK230 5 weeks ago, want to do the same with the phone. I also have the in-dash phone controller, has anyone removed that device? Any idea whats behind it when it's removed?

Teh_AGENT, you can remove the phone control module and replace it with the cubby-hole insert from a '98 SLK without phone or any '99-'00 SLK.

Thanks, Looks like I'll be using your tape solution in the storage compartment, don't think it would cut it on the dash. time to find some used MB parts.
