Advice Please

I am thinking to get a used SLK230.
should I get the year 99 or 2000? What do you guys think? what is the normal mileage? what problem will it have? or should I just get a used boxter? Thank you guys..

hi

i think there is no many diff. between yr99 and yr00
but I would go for the yr2001 model if possible , coz the outlook is totally diff. to the model be4 yr01
eg. blinding mirror , the button to open the trunk at the back , and the ugly black margin around the car at underside ....

also , if u look for good handling , then Boxster
but if u like hard top cov't ( like me ^^ ) , then SLK

the reason I took the slk but not the boxster at that time , was coz the hard top , hehehe , and sure , $$$ is another problem too

I'd go with the 2000 for warranty reasons. My factory waranty runs out in September on my '99 and it covers everything, even bulbs.

There weren't really any additional features for the 2000 model year. The only thing I can think of that the optional phone was a digital Startac in 2000 whereas it was an analog Startac in 1999.

The advantage of going with a 2000 model is
1. 2000 models included free scheduled maintenance for the first 4yrs/50K miles.
2. The factory warranty has already expired on most of the 1999 models.

Most of the later 2000 SLKs were the "Limited Edition" model which had Obsidian black metallic paint, Oyster/Charcoal interior, 17" EVO II wheels and no sport package.

If at all possible, upgrade to an 01 model.

get a 1998, with under 15,000 miles, you can buy a bumper-bumper warranty to 100K miles for 1999$. thats the cheapest to go. get sport package if its availabe in 98 or a 99.

You can never tell if a car is going to have problems or not. I don't have luck with used cars, so I would only buy a certified car. MBZ has one of, if not the best certification program available. If it isn't certified, either have it certified or find a car that is. Having no experience with SLKs, can't tell you about reliability issues, but just in general with any vehicles, that's my recommendation.

I think you have to learn to spell Boxster before you are allowed to buy one.

Seriously though, it's really fun to drive.
