SLK/R170: Rear cover extension doesn't move when retracting roof

Rear cover extension doesn't move when retracting roof
Not sure if I have all the terminology right, but we have a problem with our 2001 SLK, hoping someone can help confirm I've identified the right part, and can also tell me where I might be able to find that part.
There is a part that works to ensure the rear cover extension comes down as the roof is retracting, I think it's called the left latch spring. One time when we were retracting the roof the spring disengaged on one end and the rear cover extension stayed up, and caused problems with retraction. We've re-attached it several times (and the dealer service dept just did the same thing), but it keeps coming off. So I'm thinking I need to replace the left latch spring.
Two questions - can anyone confirm I've identified the right part? And second, if so, any idea where I can find it? I spent about an hour searching online parts stores, with no luck...
In looking at other posts I think it's the left latch spring, 170-795-00-35.
