Do you have any preference, if you had the choice of specifying the brand (Michelin, Pirrelli, Continental, Bridgestone, etc.)?
TIA for posting.

'02 SLK32 AMG
Michelin Pilot Sports. As far as I know, all SLK32s delivered to the US so far have these tires. However, at least one SLK32s that has been shown at auto shows had Pirelli PZero Asymmetrico (sp?).
I'm not sure about the '02 SLK230/320 with Sport pacakge, though. Hopefully, they've dumped the Continental SportContacts.

I forgot to say. My preference would be Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Positions. However, I'm very happy with the Michelin Pilot Sports.
I had Continental SportContacts on my '99 and I thought they were OK for the first 5K miles. After that, they were scary in wet weather, and they were extremely noisy by 10K miles. The treadwear was OK, though. I think they might have made it to 20K. However, if I didn't live in Arizona, there's no way I would have kept them beyond 10K miles.

Mine also came with Michelin Pilot Sports ....
I'll switch to S-03s (or whatever number they're up to by the time my Michelins wear out ). I find that I do not like the way the Michelins feel at the recommended pressures but instead inflate them more for day to day driving.

What I have seen at the dealership...
1) 2002 Black/Black SLK32 with Michelin Pilot Sports.
2) 2002 Silver/Black SLK320 (Sport Package) with Pirelli PZero Asimmetrico.
Yes, hoping I don't get Continentals, but wish they would come in Bridgestones (SO3 will make my day). Of course, that is just wishful thinking.

Michelin Pilot Sports
My SLK32 came with Michelin Pilot Sports. I wasn't impressed with the Pilot Sports initially. They seemed a little slick when cold, especially when run a little above recommended inflation pressure. But the grip has improved with wear. I'm now quite pleased with the Pilot Sports when they are at operating temperature.
