SLK Body Kits? 2001 conversions?
Okay everyone, I am new to this board, I have had my SLK for 2years now and leaning towards buying a porsche boxster, I have always loved the curves on that car. BUT my Slk is almost paid off, and I kinda like the idea of not having a 500 dollar payment. anywho, So I am thinking about sprucing it up a little, It black in color with the black and red interior(which I love). I was wonder who all makes a nice body kit for it? I dont want rice. had plenty of it for dinner tonight(as every night). I really like the way the 2001 looks, but was wondering if there were any fitment problems or were they diret bolt ons, Also the sideskirts, how do they attach? Also will 18x9's fit in the back? or can I go with 10's and 18x8 up front? Also whats a good offset to get on the wheels?

Q: I was wonder who all makes a nice body kit for it? I dont want rice. had plenty of it for dinner tonight(as every night).
A: That pretty much just leaves AMG and Brabus.

A: There are some slight differences between the '98-'00 and '01-'03 SLK body kits. I don't know exactly what they are, but I do know that it's possible to fit the newer front and rear bumper aprons on older SLKs with only slight modifications. The side skirts should just bolt-on.
For a nice look without spending alot of money, I suggest buying a pair of '01 side skirts and then having your stock black front and rear bumper skirts sanded, primed, and painted to match the the body. It's a completely different look and should cost under $1k including the paintwork.
Q: Also will 18x9's fit in the back?
A: Yes, 9.0Jx18ET35 rims with 255/35R18 tires are a perfect fit.
Q: or can I go with 10's and 18x8 up front?
A: 10-inch-wide rims in the rear are tight but some people have done it. 8.0Jx18ET35 with 225/40R18 tires are a perfect fit for the front.
Q: Also whats a good offset to get on the wheels?
A: between 35 and 37mm in the front and between 30 and 37mm in the rear.

Rieger kits can be found here:

If Rieger kits are not too ricey for you, then maybe the Lorinser add-on kit would be acceptable.
