My slk came up with a CEL code 0170. Can one interpret that for me and let me kow what that means.

 

P0170 Fuel Trim Malfunction (Bank 1) ) check vaccum leaks first or
faulty air mass flow sensor

 

I read some posts on the site looking for help and found a couple conversations about the MAF . So in anticipation I bought one online . Then I read some more and went out to the car and the gas cap was loose. Tightened it up and light went out. Anybody need ing a MAF let me know .
My question now How is the gas cap related to the CEL code 0170?
