Rage2, I was wondering if you know how one can interface and aftermarket alarm with the vario-roof controls. I am very close to getting all the bugs out, but just wondering if anyone else has tried and have more knowledge of the electronic of the vario-roof system.

AFAIK, DEI has wiring for their lines of alarms. Personally, I use DickB's vario roof controller which uses the factory alarm.

You can easily figure out what each connection does by going through his installation manual. He used to have full schematics for control, but he took that down since he made his product commercial.

Thank Rage2, I'll chk out the vario roof commander installation page. It gave me some idea as to how to go about making the roof work. I think I should be able to get it to work with some relays, timer, sensors. Thanx for the url
I especially like the higher speed limit for roof operation. That will be harder to figure out. Any idea the electronics behind how that work? I notice it use wire 74 from the CCM to control this.

He has a black box that modified the "pulse" to the CCM to simulate a slower signal. I think if you go to the "HOME" page of his site, you can get the variable speed volume control box that he sells, it does the same thing but wired to the factory stereo.

If you're a programmer, get a simple microcontroller, and make your own "box" to do the same thing .
