Replacement wheel size

Hi all, new member, 1st post.

My 98' SLK 230 Kompressor is fitted with standard spec 16 inch alloys...7 inches wide at the front and 8.0 at the back.

I've enquired about a set of replica AMG 5 spoke Star alloys but have been offered 7.5 inch wide 17 inch rims all round. It's been suggested I fit 225x45x17 tyres. Mercedes obviously feel it's important to fit a wider rim at the rear on this car - should I abide by this or go with the replica alloys?

Due to sky high cost, I'm unwilling to order the official 17" AMG set through Mercedes which are 7.5 on the front and 8.5 on the rear.

Any advice appreciated. Many thanks.

Regards,

Mark VN

OK have seen the thread elsewhere now, sounds like the 7.5x16 replicas will do the job.
