I have a '99 slk. I notice that when the top is up sometimes it creaks in slow corners or when i come up on a side-walk.
Is it normal??

Yeah, it's normal, at least in that it's not a problem. You can minimized noises from the top by lubricating all of the rubber top seals. There should be a white powder coating on all of the rubber seals, but alot of people wash it off not realizing it's there for a reason.
