Will buy either 1999 or 2000 230 SLK in one week

What should I look for to avoid buying other people's problems like I usually do? Needed as a daily driver (I average less than 100 miles a week, stop and go driving, hard on any car). Both are auto tranmission.

The 1999 drives well and everything works. Has about 77K miles. Camshaft sensor solenoid has a seeping oil leak but not travelling down to the harness. Dealer quotes $300 to replace it, installed. No trouble codes and old ones irrelevant.

The 2000 I will inspect and drive next weekend. Has 67K miles and recently rebuilt transmission. Will get it up on a lift and hope to get prepurchase inspection.

Just saw a You Tube video that is very scary (the mechanic knows just how to do it, like he's had lots and lots of practice):

Thanks for your advice.

I would avoid the 2000 because of the rebuilt transmission.
it sounds like a car driven hard & not taken care of.

Agree. It also changed hands three times in the last six years.

Delayed by a week, but put a holding deposit on the 1999 until I get full payment for the 1988 Corvette convertible I just sold.

BTW, it has the same 250R tires front and rear instead of 205R fronts. Will that present handling problems (seemed fine on driving it)?
