SLK/R170: 6x Check Engine light in less than 1 year

6x Check Engine light in less than 1 year
My SLK 230 (2001, 23000 miles) just had a Check Engine light for the 6th time in less than 1 year. I always brought it back to my dealership, Mercedes Nanuet NY, after which they replaced one part or another. The problem reoccurs, lately only 1 or 2 days after the repair.
A month ago I called MBUSA (the 800 number) to document my case, and they provided "technical assistance" to my dealer. Last week, my dealer assured me that they (with the help from MBUSA) finally had found the real cause: it was a bad engine wiring harness. This presumably gave false indications to the computer and triggered the check engine light. Guess what..Less than 24 hours after I picked up the car, I got a check engine light again, for the SIXTH time!
Does anyone know how I can escalate my case? Who is the zone or region manager for the New York area that I could write to? Should I try another dealer? I am very annoyed that MB can't fix this problem after six attempts! Do I have any legal means to solve this? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
