Alarm and Locks Problem

For about 3 weeks now I have this problem where while I am driving the car and out of nowhere the locks either lock or unlock. I am not sure if this is related but the alarm seems to go off at will. I cant leave the car for more than 3 hours without if going off it seems. If anyone has any idea or info on what the problem may be please post. I would appreciate it.

There is a PSE module in the trunk which contains both a pneumatic pump for the locks and electronics to control stuff including the alarm. This area seems prone to moisture. My alarm was not working and it was due to moisture-related damage. The PSE was replaced under warranty. I'd check there first.

Alarm problem

On our SLK230 the alarm would sound after we locked the doors. I took your suggestion to check the PSE module. I opened up the module (the bottom pops off very easily) and found corrosion on the printed circuit board. I cleaned off the corrosion, reassembled the unit, reinstalled it and now it works fine.

Thank you for pointing me in that direction.

DickB, Where in the trunk is the module located? I have '00 230.

Thanks!

It is just to the right of the spare tire. Pull the carpet liner up as if you were going to take out the spare. It sits in the bottom of the trunk.
