I was wondering if anyone knew or tried using a bike rack for an slk 230, I was considering the type that straps on the trunk, will it effect the roof mechanism, is it too much stress on this type of trunk? I didn't want to spend 700.00 for the other style. 50 bucks sounds much better to me. any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

I advice against it. I've seen some trunks with damaged paint due to bike rack.
You can try calling U-Hall to see how much they'll charge to get hitch installed and get a hitch mountable bike rack. Should be around 400$ all together – still cheaper than having your trunk repainted.
