SLK/R170: Better scanner

Better scanner
I need better scanner data than the garden variety Innova or Accutron (I have both). I want to spend under $200 I was hot on the trail of the icarsoft MBii, Launch X431 VIII, Carly app etc but one by one as I finally find the list of vehicles that these scanner apply to my R170 (2001 SLK320) is not on the list, only the R171 and R172. Whats the most scanner I can buy for under $200 that applies to my vehicle. I DIY everything and was in the electronics profession, my current problem is a P0600 serial communication error.

Carly sucks for pretty much everything before 2007.Dont waste your money. I have carly for VW, BMW, Mercedes and I have used them maybe once a year in last 3 years. Launch Icarscan (orangish dongle) has been very useful for BMW, VW and Mercedes. Its packed with test procedures like the OEM BMW INPA/DIS or Mercedes STAR. Only thing I have found was that it would NOT save airmatic adjustments. That's the only drawback for Benz I have found in the last 3 years with mine. Used it in many times on w211,w212,w219 . It also worked great on a 99 ML430, so I figure if it works on that vintage it should work fine for your 2001 SLK. Hope this helps.
