2003/2004 SLK Mesh windbreaker dilemma.

Hi to you all out there.
My car is a late 2003 built SLK 230 (RHD) that was 1st registered in the UK on 16th January 2004.
My query is :-- will the Mesh Draught Stop from the R170 Pre-face-lift fit directly onto a Face-lift car.

Considering that the cars are otherwise one in the same except for mainly cosmetic differences and that Mercedes are not going to tool-up for relatively insignificant changes then it makes perfect sense that certain parts should be perfectly interchangeable.

'YES', each new model will get new part numbers but within the parts list some/many will be cross referenced as 'The same'.

Does any member have experience of my dilemma or know of one that has come up against it in the past

Hi to you all out there. Well I have got myself a windbreaker screen for my 2004 SLK R170 Face-lift. It was bought off of E'bay for the sum of £49.95 plus £6.95 carriage.
It came via Parcels2Go.com/Hermes in a stout cardboard tube and is indistinguishable from new.
The fit is extremely tight and should prevent any flapping about at speeds of up-to 70mph.

Earlier today I had been over to a friends house where he has an early R170 1997 variant, the windbreaker is a totally different fit at the position of the hoops by having a restrainer strap that passes through a metal buckle like piece but without the buckle pin,the small strap then is pulled up and fastens onto the side of the part of the screen that is over the hoop.
The lower edge of the screen between the hoops has two rectangular rings that are used in retaining tension in the middle when they are pulled down and located on two hooks that are fastened to the 'backboard' behind the seats.
