SLK R170 2004 face-lift additional key./
Hi to you all out there. I have just nearly fell off of my office chair seat after being told by a local UK MB Dealership that a new key including the cost of programming it is going to be the eye watering price of £300.00 +.
Good GOD have they got to take the car to pieces so that it can be produced !!!
Is there any where/any way that I can get a key without investing my two weeks pension monies ?

For the replacement FOB, I cannot believe they would charge you that $$ in the UK. Another stealership perhaps?

You can obtain a valet key from the $$tealer$hip for less which has the chip and key to operate your R170, however, no fob(remote) to lock up and alarm your car. There are aftermarket alarm systems that other have installed here on the forums.
For the replacement FOB, I cannot believe they would charge you that $$ in the UK. Another stealership perhaps?

Fitting aftermarket alarm systems is only going to add additional costs and it is not something that I would undertake myself.
Unfortunately I am someone that sticks with the genuine thing simply because in the long run it is damage limitation.
