SLK/R170: Part Number for Belt Idler Pulley
There is a slight squeak at idle RPM from my serpentine belt area that sounds like it is coming from the very small idler pulley/bearing above the actual tensioner on the supercharger belt circuit.
I tried finding the part # at www.RealOEM MB EPC but I could not find the proper illustration for my belt drive system.
If I had to name the part, I would say it is the Supercharger Belt Idler Pulley. It is shown with a red arrow in the (hopefully) attached image.
I searched for the part on the World Parts Catalog (World PAC) and the numbers don't crosscheck to any MB parts (Parts # 5320282100 or WP-180759) for the idler pulley they stock.
The belt and pulley bearing have only 44,000 original miles, which seems low for a bearing failure, but the squeak is there. I tried squirting WD40 on both sides of both belts and no change in sound was forthcoming.
Anyone have a MB part # I can use to ensure I'd be ordering the correct part?
Thanks,
Bob
