SLK/R170: Won't start/ no dash warning lights?

The car ran beautifully I was surprised about the hard ride but that is simple stuff for later on.
The car ran started idled did everything it should do, I was really loving this car.
When I got home, I broke out my trusty Harbor freight scanner which read PO410 then I cleared the code, I think that is when my problems started.
I tried to restart the car after clearing the codes the starter engaged, turned a few revolutions then stopped.
Right now when I turn the ignition switch I see no warning lights, like I did when I first bought the car, they were there I saw them many times starting the car over the 2 days I had it.
After the key has been on for a minute or so I get the SRS light then it times out.
I do see mileage I really can't tell if the gauges are working the engine is cold and I don't remember how much gas was in it, I also see no indicator in the window for gear selection.
That is where I stand.
I have since removed the infamous relay after seeing so much online about the solder joints I added flux to the joints then touched up all the solder points.
I tried to get the remote to work without success, but the central locking system works everything seems OK
My impression is that the dash (or IP) lost power, taking away the juice to operate the starter from the key switch.
I think I toasted the K40 screwing around by the battery now when I turn the key to on the fans start blowing at full force,
before my incident sparking the ground the fan worked at low speed blowing air into the K40 Box I have a new one coming.
Has anyone had this problem can you point me in the right direction, I really like this little car it was well kept the car itself was a 2 owner car that was well taken care of.
Your help in this matter would greatly appreciated, the solution will live on, well for as long as I last
Thanks Bob.

After scanning I had hope when I saw the Drive Authority System was on line, but lost hope when I spotted the EIS wasn't working.
After installing the K40 I went through again clearing codes, still nothing.
Finally I looked at the fuses again after having all of them out, I neglected tor reinstall one Fuse # 37.(just my dumb luck)
Fuse 37 gave me the dash warning lights, I lost last sunday night after changing the batteries in my remote.
I think it was a combination of the K40, going bad and me changing the batteries that brought on the problems.
The car is up and running again, thanks for your website the site helped point me in the right direction to solve my problems.
