SLK/R170: SRS and airbag,

SRS and airbag,
I'm know the topic's been discussed more than one time, but I felt I needed to share my story.
When starting up my 2002 R170 last summer (after its winter sleep) I got the dreaded SRS light
Started to investigate why and found numerous threads about this and that, but it wouldn't apply to my car.
I had:
SRS text LIT on the dash, but airbag light (close to the gear shifter) OFF
My Autel MaxiLink (ML619) pointed out that the airbag module (behind the radio) was corrupt
My iCarsoft MB v2 told me it was the child seat sensor
However, since the airbag light was off I assumed that it shouldn't be the child seat sensor.
Ordered a pre-owned airbag module and installed, and all is now working as it should!
Don't trust a single source (or scanner) is my conclusion of this.
