SLK Keys
I went to unlock my SLK230 today with my remote and nothing happend. I thought batteries must be dead so I put new batteries in my remote but still nothing. Now it could be that the remote key has broken but has anyone else had problems with remote door locks stopping working. What else could it be ?

Just had the key replaced on a 99 SLK230. It quit just like yours. It has to be ordered specially for your car; it cannot be programmed for your car by the dealer. I believe it can be ordered without the metal key which saves a few $s. As I understand, it cost a little more than $100 but mine was covered by a Mercedes extended warranty that I bought when the car was new (after a lot of hassle!).
I could not believe how much I missed the remote locking/unlocking when the key did not work!

Only One Remote?
You should have gotten two remotes. Did you not buy the car from a dealer?
Bought mine used from M-B dealer, and dealer got me the second remote without my ever asking.

Fixed It
Hi I found out that the key can become out of sync with the car because of the rolling code technology used and that it takes just 30 seconds to resync the key. I did it and it works perfectly again
