Floor Stands- Floor Jack

Hello,
Where is the best place to position my floor stands? Should I jack the rear using my floor jack under the jacking pad on one side of the car then place a floor stand under the strut mount and repeat the process on the other side ( so that both rear wheels are off the floor )? Or place the floor jack (and a 2 X 4) under the differential and place the floor stands under the jacking pads?
