2001 Slk230 Vs 2005 Slk350 ??

OK , here's my dilemma....

I owned the first SLK to arrive in Puerto Rico back in 1998. I loved the car but the dealer sold it to me as NEW when it was actually USED. After 4 years and a lawsuit that went all the way to the Puerto Rico Supreme Court, I won the case and he had to return the $64,710 I had paid him cash for the car and I used it for 4 years for FREE !!

OK, now you know my background.. Now that the 2005 body is coming out for the SLK, a few people here are giving their leases to anyone who wants them for free, just keep paying it off.

I have been offered a 2001 SLK 230, auto trans, Black, perfect paint and everything else, CD, under factory warranty until JAN 05, 27,000 miles on it, and the total cost to me is going to be around $27,000 (already includes Puerto Rico import tax also).

The other option is paying around $70,000 for the SLK350. I was told today that it would be here next month but with the waiting list, more like January 2005 before I can get one.

The money really isn't a problem but I'm trying to figure out if the new body is more than TWICE as good as the 2001, since that's how much it's going to cost me. When I bought the '98 SLK it had so many quirks, being a new model, that they corrected with the later years and I'm thinking it might happen with the new '05 SLK also.

Tomorrow I'm calling up the Import Tax people to find out how much it would cost to bring it from the states in case I can buy one over there sooner (since I'm buying cash anyway).

Any advice would help, and anyone who needs a 1986 Porsche 911 Targa with 930 body kit, I have to get rid of it to make space for the SLK....

Carlos

Found something better on the internet in Florida. Red 2002 SLK320 with 20,000 miles for about $32,000 with a little over a year of factory warranty, compared to at least $70,000 (conservative minimum price for the basic SLK350 ) and waiting until next year for my name to come up on the waiting list for it.

I have the SLK320 right now and am just waiting to drive the 350. Once I do, I will let you know if it is worth the extra money.
Cheers!

P.S. How is the storm?

Unless something really weird happens and it turns around, it looks like we made it safely !!

It seems like it's going by and didn't look at us, thank God and all the good wishes of everyone here. I hope it now turns North instead of continuing towards Bahamas and Florida, like it's doing now.
