R170 change seat colour and retro heat seat fit

If anyone is thinking of putting heated seats in there R170. And changing seat colour. Then can say it can be done. I had electric cloth seats black/red. Purchased a set of black leather heated and electric seats ( Note your taking a chance on the heated part actually working ). Plus a MB heated seat wiring loom ( not easy to find intact as a pig to remove). And new middle dash facia and heated seat button cluster. ( Note there seems to be some difference in the back off the switch cluster so don't just buy one with heated seat buttons find one that has all the buttons you need in the right places. Right Seat re colour . Not that hard to do just very time consuming and you have to take your time. Purchased a bright red kit from "furniture clinic" ( buy extra large kit) came with sponges a little spay gun and canned propellant ( Note the propellant is a nightmare. Purchase a small compressor Much easier. I tried purchasing a better little spay gun but could not get paint to run through it as to thick. And did not want to thin it out. So ended up using the one that came in kit. It does clog they give you a pin to unclog but its crap. Use a thin piece of long wire much better. So you first use there pre treat with brillo pad type cloth ( green and comes in kit ) scuff up seats till the black starts coming off. Then Alcohol ( comes in kit ) to clean it all off. Then you can start with the white little sponges and the dye. Cover seats pay more attention to seems first coat rub hard in the rest gentle. Its not going to look like its done anything ( well from black to red it wont) . I ended up with about 8 coats done like this and hair dryer between each coat . Then use the spay again around 8 coats. Be careful if it runs your knackered. So take your time. spay a piece of wall or wood first before every coat to make sure it does not spit bits. If the sound of the spray changes stop and unclog it spay wall again first. Plus hairdryer after every coat. Once done leave for a few hours Then Gloss sealer coats. This runs through the gun quick and lots of it so backa bit away and take care very easy to put to much on. Again did about 3 coats of gloss. Then 3 coats of 60% gloss and 40% Matt. Again hairdryer between each coat . Once done leave for a few days to properly dry. Now for the fun part heated seat loom.Main issue is drivers side. I ran it down right side of center console for drivers seat cable left side of console for for switches and left side behind where fett go then under carpet and in cable tunnel for passenger seat cable. Don't attempt to run drivers side seat cable under carpet then in cable tunnel. Its not worth the aggravation. Carpet is stuck down pedals need to be removed and so on. Last cable goes up over steering column and into fuse box . Now could not work out how to get fuse spline ends into fuse holders. When you open fuse box holder under bonnet and pull everything out you then have to unclip the block of fuse holder once that comes out you can then push the red bar which then allows the fuse slines to go all the way in . Then push red bar back. one fuse is 30 amps one is 5 amps. In the end all worked seats heat very well and does make a difference Hope this helps anyone. Pic of seats for ref before and after
