Warning: EBC green stuff pads
I have recently put on some EBC Green stuff brake pads on my 98 slk. Ever since then I have had to buy two set of rotors because they keep warping. At first I was concernted that it was my wheel barrings but I had it cheak out and they were ok. Then I thought I was not setting my brakes right on the install and not giving them time to break in. But after the second set of rotors getting wrap. I put some stock ATE pad on and the put another set of rotors on my car and the problem when away.
So beware of the Green stuff pad they cost me over a $1000 on brake repair.

If I may suggest a web site that could be very helpful here ....
This web site was put togeather some time ago by someone who has owned a few SLK's, he has compiled alot of information that has proved to be extreamly helpful for new guys and for those that would like a bit of help to get started in working on their own SLK. I think that you find it worth the visit.
