Service question

My SLK320 has about 2 months left under warranty. It only has about 35000 miles on it. I've owned it less than a year. It did not have a service book/log. (I bought it from a broker who got it as it came off lease). The odometer indicates service due in 2700 miles. I won't reach that before the 2 months are up, but it has probably been almost a year since the last service or oil change.
Does the service indicator count elapsed time or only mileage? How would a dealer react to requesting warranty service before the 2700 miles is up? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A lot depends on the dealer ....

In the older SLK's they only worked with mileage, yours should also monitor time. Most dealers will handle the oil change along with the other things in the service routine with no problem, but a very few will give you a hard time. Ask your Service Rep., and see what he says.
Where do you take your car?

Thanks for the reply. I haven't taken it in anywhere yet, although for convenience I'll probably try Euromotors in Bethesda. What would be your reccomendation?

On my 01 clk I had free maintenance for the duration of the warranty. I would assume your car had the same thing and it went to some MB dealer for the free oil changes. All those visits would be logged in the MB national computer and could be accessed by any MB dealer. Just take the car in and see if you can get a free service and have the car checked out under warranty one last time.

The service light will up once odometer has 1000- miles left. Which means if you can drive 1700+ miles within 2 months, you can save some money on the service especially if it's service B.

The guys over at Herb Gordon in Silver Spring have treated me like family. If you're interested talk to Bill Costlow, and mention Bruce, he'll take good care of you. There's a new guy on the Silver Team that is also excellent, same holds true there, mention my name, it's been known to help.

I don't want to say this too loud, but Euro Motors doesn't have a spotless reputation on maintainance.

Thanks for the tip. Herb Gordon is actually much closer to me, but isn't very convenient as far as public transportation. I'll give them a try anyway based on your recommendation. (My alarm has been going off since Friday. I haven't been able to lock the car. Evidently this is not uncommon in SLK's.)

Talking

I don't want to sound like I work for these people, but I believe that they have a shuttle service that can help. They may very well get you a "loner car".
