Diff dying Help please
SLK 320 2002 50k miles.
My diff has been whining for some time and has become very loud recently and now sounds like it's full of coarse sandpaper.
Can anyone help with a reliable source of a reconditioned diif without spending more than the car is worth? I am in Cheshire, South Manchester.
Any guidance as to what the labour time should be?
Also is it safe to use for short trips , can it do any further damage?

Just seen that it could be a wheel bearing and my ESP light comes on occasionally. Could this be related? Is it possible to check the wheel bearings by simply lifting the car and rotating the wheels with no load.?
