"Lumpy" running...missing a cylinder?....sometimes ok....

99 SLK230 50,000mls
Problem started a couple of weeks ago.
Sometimes when I start it, it sounds/feels like its missing a cylinder.
Go to the shops - lack of power - like a cylinder is missing.
Another day....Turn on = ok...
Another day .....Lumpy again.... I turn it off and back on - this time its all good.
Faulty CPS?.....
TIA

Could be a failing coil. If it was my SLK230 I would replace all 4 coils.
