SLK/R170: Carsoft on the blink ...Next Option?

R170 99SLK230 + SLK32
Carsoft on the blink ...Next Option?
My Carsoft74 from 2010 - mainly the Win98 computer that drove it - has died.
Looking at new options to read codes on my 99 SLK230
Its got the 38pin setup and no incar OBD port
Whats the latest?
I've used my phone with a bluetooth and incar OBD bluetooth adapter in my SLK32
but the 1999 SLK230 doesnt have incar OBD.
I recall the level of detail is very limited though - but it may provide some basic helpful codes as it has done on the SL32
1 idea - maybe a 38pin to OBD2 adapter?....
