xpost from slk32 amg board: relocating antenna

im contemplating on removing my antenna and take the car to a local mb dealership to patch up the hole. does anyone know if the antenna can be rewired to say the windshield? i dont mean to mount the antenna on the windshield, but rather im going for the antenna-less look.

The dealer will make you sign a piece of paper that basically says in complex legal terms .........

"Dont blame us this is your idea "

If anything the antenna should be bigger not hidden.

Actually, in case you didn't know, the original 1998 model SLK didn't have an antenna. It was hidden inside of the rear bumper. The current antenna was added halfway through the 1998 model year because of customer complaints about poor radio reception. The hidden antenna continued in Europe I believe until the R170 was discontinued this spring. I remember somebody posted a parts list and some photos of the bumper antenna installation. It was either here or on the benzworld.org SLK forum, I'm not sure. Try searching both forums. The only issue is that your reception will get worse than it already is. You may not even notice depending on where you live though.

FYI, another option some people do is to unscrew the SLK's antenna mast and replace it with the little cone antenna from the R230 SL. The SL cone comes pre-painted and is available in just about every SLK color, so you'd only have to paint the base on your SLK. Several people have done that. Again, it makes reception worse, but if you're only interested in look, it may not matter to you.

im researching the sirius sat radio. click the link below you'll see a very clean and stealthy sat radio/ant install.

sirius and xm sat radio; and euro antenna(pic)

the sirius service in not yet available in canada. i've heard that canadian radio/tv regulartors have held or will hold public hearings on the matter. cant wait for the positive outcome of that initiative and hopefully it will see the light of day.

i've also done a lil research on xm sat radio. again this service also is not yet available here.

in the meantime im liking this stubby antenna, i can live with seeing this not-in-your-face lil antenna affixed on my car. i have a quick question -
is this the euro1 or euro2 antenna? (pic)
