SLK/R170: Check Engine Light P1236

I have a 1999 SLK230 that starts easily and runs great. The check engine light came on recently with the error code: P1236 Fuel Pump out of range. I paid $175 for a diagnostic that suggested the ECU was bad. I replaced the ECU and had it cloned. I replaced the fuel pump, the fuel filter, the fuel injection pressured regulator and still get the same error code. The STAR smog station failed the test stating the "Computer Not Ready" error. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am out $800 plus already. Thanks

before you waste any more time and money i strongly suggest that you first google MB fault P1236 for your VIN------what did you learn and forget what your neighbor advises
i would also go back and get a refund on the diagnostic charge
