Along the same lines, does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade to the navigation/command system? or anyone that does this work & est. price?

yes it is...and yes I know of somebody who does...

retrofitting comand with navigation drive PLUS additional audio gateway into an SLK is not cheap though...but will be factory and fully integrated...
