SLK/R171: Tinting Windows

Tinting Windows
ok guys who has tinted there windows and what did you pay? How dark did you go and do you like it. My wife normally will be driving this car and she likes
them dark. Ussually the back glass is dark enough were you can not see into the car. We normally tint the sides the same which is illegal in the states but I have never been hasseled. Make sure you roll them down if you get stopped before the cop gets to the car. Just trying to get and idea of the look and the cost. Dealer quoted 300 to 400 but that seamed steep concidering the limited about of glass. My truck was 279 and has twice the amount of glass in it.
PS Normally I have to sign a waiver for the installer when we go that dark on the side glass. I think the uniform dark look is the best. On my truck that had to use 3 different shades to make it uniform because the back glass, rear sides and front sides all had different tint from the factory. For me I don't mind being scene behind the wheel. My wife is a knock out and gets harassed
and followed so she likes the dark tint. She even was followed all the way home one time which is scary. I happened to be home at the time and she called me on the cell all freaked out. We live at the end of a private road out of town. I had a little surprise for the two guys who followed her into our driveway practically into oour garage. I opened up the gun vault and had my
Colt single action pistol on with the western side holster- pistol is nickle with pealed stag grips and also had my AR-15 locked and loaded with my Amo belt
carries 300 rounds plus 30 in the clip. They couldn't leave fast enough. They actually backed into a rock on my property crunching there rear quarter panel leaving in a hurry. I don't think they will be back. I also had their plate number and had it run so I knew whos car it was and where they lived. I called them to let them know what I knew and that we all knew were each other lived. They appologised and said they had been drinking and we just fooling around and it was all a big mistake. Nice! One thing about us Americans we do love our guns.

My wife also drives the car and we went with a 20 % tint. Forgot to mention the all-around tint cost $200 including installing felt so film would not be damaged with window operation.

i had my windows tinted several weeks ago i went with 50$ all around (5 windows)
since i didnt want the two tone look between the side windows and the rear ones.
Plus didnt want trouble with the cops ...
I paid just over $100 cdn.
And i love it, although not very dark at night it looks wonderful looks much better than the factory tint if there was any =p

Bigciti- the car looks great. 20% is what I would we will do.
CJmegha- What is the felt you had installed? I am not familiar with it. Making me now think about tint on the windows that to all that moving around. Clue me in. That is dark you no hassles in Cali being that dark? CHIP's hates blacked out windows. One off from Limo is 10% I think. With the limited sun in Seattle might be a bit dark for my clim but perfect for sunny so. cal.
The areowings on your car, are they bolt on? Do they have rubber on the bottom to protect the hood?
Thanks for the posts guys.

Just curious, has anyone out there installed Huper Optic ceramic tint. It's supposed to be the best. If so what did you pay and does it look any different than normal tint? I got quoted a price of $ 450.00 and it seemed pretty high, scared me off.

I am not sure what that tint is. On my last G35 they used the latest tint and we hated it. It blocked glare but you could still see in. They put 2 layers on to get the right look of 20% tint- was BS. I found out about the felt to today.
Was quoted $200 5 windows with felt.
