SLK/R171: Any SLK55 availability info?

Any SLK55 availability info?
I am VERY seriously considering the purchase of an SLK55. I called my dealer and he said there is no problem getting one other than the $$ and 5-6 month wait. I read some articles that said only about 1000 SLK55's will be sent to the US so it doesn't make sense to me that it would be so "easy" to get. Does anyone have any "inside" information on the availability of the 55? Should I be weary of what the dealer is telling me??

Yep, no problem other than the ordering wait time (3 mos). Demand and supply are at about the same level. A current customer of mine lucked out and only has to wait 7 weeks (selected a car in production that was one option different from the way he would have specified his order).
