Wheel Issues

I wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing the same issues that I am in regards to the stock alluminum 10 spoke wheels. I was washing my car this weekend and I went to pollish the wheels with Mothers Mag and Alluminum Wheel pollish. Before I did it i noticed that it looked like the finish on the wheels was coming off. It looked really bad upclose. Anyone else had this problem? anyone know if this would be something that could be warrantable?

Any comments are greatly appreciated. BTW this was the first time I was going to polish them so I can rule out that it was the polish that is causing the issue.

Thanks

I also forgot to mention that the bolts on the brake caliper and a little bit of the area near the brake disc seem to be starting to rust a little bit. Is this common or an issue? again warrentable?

thanks

Sounds like your car is fairly new, so it definitely is a warranty issue. My car is about five months old and I have the ten spoke wheels. The wheels look perfect. If they didn't MB would be replacing them. You can bet on that.

I'm not sure you should be using this on clear coated wheels...are you?

The rust around the calipers is notmal. Nothing to worry about there, but if the rim is peeling you have an issue.

Sounds like you (or some place you took the car for a wash) are (is) using some corrosive wheel cleaner which is also finding its way onto the brake calipers.
