Hello, I'm new to this forum. I ordered an 06 SLK 280 on Nov. 7th. Just checked with the dealer who tracks the production and shipping today Dec. 29th, the car hasn't or could have barely just got onto the ship in Germany. I was told it will take another 6-8 weeks. I'm located in San Francisco, was told the car will go to LA port, then to the dealership, then me. So the dealer's estimate for Arrival is beginning of March. It just seems awfully long since the time I placed the order. What's anyone else's exprience with this? Happy holiday everyone and Much thanks. New SLK owner.

Having done ED, I know exactly how long it takes and he is telling you the truth. There is prep/loading time, trans-canal shipping time etc. West Coast shipments arrive in Long Beach, where it has to be inspected and clear customs. It then gets sent to finishing schoold were it gets some of its US-specific finals such as any kinds of electronic communications (e.g. Tele-Aid, Sat Radio, phone...) and other accessorizing. From there it waits until a truck is going to your dealer--who will not know it is arriving until the day before it does.
FYI, it took nine weeks from the time I dropped the car off at the shipper in Frankfurt until I picked it up at the dealer. Not being ED, your time should be slightly less.
I did the EuroDelivery, I placed my order June 2nd, my SLK was build the second week of July and I picked it up in Germany on July 25th, was shipped on the first week of Aug. and I received my car here in the states on Aug. 31st. Hope that helps.
Actually, it doesn't seem that out of the ordinary. Mine was built during the week of 9/10/05 and arrived in SF Bay Area (via Long Beach) for me to pick up on 10/14.
