SLK/R171: CD Changer install

CD Changer install
One thing I did not get with my slk was the cd changer and boy the 1 cd non mp3 player is stinking. Anyone have a rough estimate on how much parts and labor would be?

There are quite a few people who have gotten the I-pod integration or just use MP3's and would rather not have the CD changer. I would see if there's someone on this or other forums or check E-bay. I think you might be able to find one without too much trouble.

Use mp3s? Don't you need the cd changer to play mp3s? The single cd player wouldn't work for me when I put in a mp3 disk. Do I need the Command to use the IPOD integration, or do they mean using the FM modulation setup?
Regarding the one for sale, I wouldn't have the first clue on installing it

I mean, the manual says the cd changer will play mp3 disks. I have the basic audio console and no cd changer. My Lexus has the cd changer built right in to the audio deck. Damn MB and their options!!!

Also, unless you do something with Steve at Mbenznl, you need Command to integrate the ipod. Otherwise you're stuck with an FM modulator.

He travels to different areas, but he may not come to your area. That and price would be the only reason. Not that his prices are out of line, it just may be more than you want to spend. From everything I have heard from people who had him do work(not me), his work is top notch.

Any local dealer should be able to do the work itself.
