SLK/R171: SLK Maintenance
I was wondering what routine maintenance was required for the SLK upkeep? Any price
ranges for what the dealership charges for this routine maintenance? Are there any
barriers to doing this maintenance? For instance, having to partially pull the engine
to replace spark plugs or remove a fender to get to the oil filter ( my favorite ).
I'm putting in an order for my SLK this week and don't want to be surprised.
Thanks,
Mike

My service advisor said he wanted to keep my SLK looking as new as possible for as long as he could.
Kimmie is WAY cool.
memory panel - the plastic side panel (with the memory button and 3 setting buttons) that adorns the lower left side of the driver's side seat. When I took it to Car Spa, one of the workers was cleaning my windshield, and propped herself up with her knee on the left lateral side of my driver's seat. Because I like sitting rather low (who wouldn't!) in my car, the panel cracked against the seat track. Car Spa refused to pay for it, so my service manager said we could fix it under warranty. He's already fixed a couple things under warranty....he's awesome!
And yeah....26K. I bought the car in Jan with 12K miles on it (1 year old), and I drive 51 mi. each way to work. It's my only vehicle (my divorce present to myself
I fully believe in the 'use it or lose it' philosophy!!!
It amazes me how a place can refuse to pay for something they broke and get away with it. I'd be in small claims court faster than they could blink. Thats why I dont take my car to detail shops or window tinting shops. Unless they want to hand me a deposit before working on my car, foget it.
