Navigation System

My 2005 SLK350 has the Navigation system, I had the command & had the dealer to a complete install. My question is when just using the map with no ending point the only way it will display street names is at a scale of .05 miles 1/20 of a mile, at that distance I am already past a street I am looking for. Is that the only setting or do I need a software update. On my 06 Nissan I can see street names at .5 miles 1/2 mile. Is our MB system a generation or 2 behind others.

what's odd is, the previous generation comand (used in my 2005 clk 500) does show street names from larger scale views, and also navigates straight to your door. it also gives more options when searching for address, like searching directly from an intersection without entering the city.
